Safety

Traditional fountains have no interlocking components and are held together by gravity. Gluing/cementing parts together is not recommended as they may need to be dismantled to replace the pump, hardware, or to relocate the fountain.

CAUTION: Excessive weight or pressure on a concrete fountain may cause it to fall. Keep children & others from climbing, sitting, or leaning on the fountain.

Placement

Non-Basin Fountains

  • Place on a level and firm surface and not raised off the ground more than the 2"-3" that would occur if using an approved base.
  • An authorized Fiore Stone foundation slab will additionally help prevent unplanned erosion from the weather, sprinkler system, and fountain splash.
  • For both safety and optimal performance, do not place onto a pedestal or riser, unless included as part of the fountain design.

Basin Fountains

  • Place on a soft surface like sand, pea gravel, or crushed limestone.
  • If installing on a hard surface like concrete or tile, a 1” to 1½” layer of sand must be applied over the surface. This will help with leveling by allowing the basin to settle and be completely supported, reducing the risk of possible stress fractures caused by the added weight of water and fountain components inside the basin. This sand should be grouted after the installation.
  • Most basins have a 1” coupling (or hole) near the center that a rubber grommet fits in. The pump’s power cord runs through this and out beneath the basin. Placing a sweep of minimum 1½” conduit or PVC underneath the basin from the center out to the edge or to the power source is a smart consideration. This will prevent major dismantling should the pump need to be replaced. Please consult an electrician regarding local code requirements.
  • -FRB/-FRG and -FKB/-FKG are basin style fountains however because they utilize a polyethylene plastic tub, the fountain components placed inside of the tub MUST be treated as "Pedestal" Type Fountains.

Wall Fountains

  • All wall fountains must have a solid vertical wall support such as a brick or stucco wall with studs (drywall or plywood will not provide adequate support).
  • All wall fountains are recommended to be secured with a bracket to mount top components firmly to a wall structure.
  • Generally, wall fountains allow for the power cord to escape from behind between the wall and the fountain. Small hanging-style wall fountains need to be mounted using proper heavy duty attachments for the structure to which they are being mounted. Consult your local hardware store regarding hardware, weight of the item and your wall material.
  • If recessing the fountain into a wall or structure, use professional contractors who understand concrete expansion principles and the required joint spacing and materials to help with the buildup of stress when concrete naturally expands and contracts seasonally.

Care & Cold Weather State Guidance

➤ Please review Fountainful's Cleaning & Care Page in full.

While high-density cast stone concrete is designed to produce a strong and durable product, proper maintenance is recommended to protect our product from the freeze-thaw cycles that occur in winter.

Any piece which can hold water, snow or ice, (e.g., fountain top or bowl, birdbath, planter, saucer) AND any piece placed directly onto the ground surface (e.g., statue, fountain/birdbath base, planter, bench leg) can potentially be damaged by the winter freeze-thaw cycles if proper steps are not taken.

A Half-Century of Concrete Craftsmanship

Resources

Hand-Antiquing Process

  • Each item is hand built and faux finished by hand.
  • Products are made of natural materials, so variation in color appearance due to degree of texture, size, shape of area and lighting can occur.
  • The finishing process follows a basic antiquing principal: antique faux finish is applied over a base color or original gray concrete and wiped by hand. This accent color creates a highlight that compliments the base color as well as the significant detail in the design as more of the antique accent color remains in the contours and only a slight film remains over smooth surfaces.
  • An ornament with a rough surface will feature more antique and may result in the overall color to appear lighter or darker depending on its color and that of the base.
  • A smooth surface, on the other hand, will hold much less antique and thus it reveals more of the base color.

Stain vs. Paint

These finishes are stains – not paint. Stains are formulated to enhance and complement the hand-sculpted concrete, not hide it. It’s natural for the cast stone to show through in parts.

Stains are are specially formulated to enhance with the passage of time as they patina from exposure to surrounding elements and conditions.

Color Representation

  • Products are photographed in a variety of settings, including natural and artificial lighting.
  • When viewed in person, the actual color, shape, size and texture of products will vary from those shown on color samples and in catalogs, promotional materials, digital screens and online as every single product is handcrafted and stained.
  • Curing time, the weather on the day the finish is applied, and material textures all determine the unique outcome of each finish.

There are no warranties on applied finishes or guarantee that a finish will exactly match a color medallion or media photography.

Based in Nevada, Fiore Stone and its Al's Garden Art brand have been building exceptional concrete garden ornaments since 1949.

After immigrating from Italy to North America with his family in 1922, Alfeo Bracci hoped to bring their centuries-old trade to a new land. After years of hard work and faced with the new responsibility of providing for a family, the Braccis moved to Southern California and the Al’s Garden Art brand was born.

After more than half a century, their skills and passion for creating top quality cast stone art have been handed down to their sons and grandsons.

Today, these unique piecers are produced by Fiore Stone, Inc., a manufacturing company committed to providing quality cast stone garden ornaments that you and your family will enjoy for generations to come.
